Moussa Niang is President and CEO of Foundation 221, Inc. a humanitarian non-profit organization that provides services to orphans, assists women and children with health issues, and aims to build community leaders within the youth. Since Niang’s tenure as President of the charity organization, the foundation has dug modern wells for rural areas in Senegal that did not have access to clean water, as well as provided nourishments to orphans and women with health issues.
Niang currently serves as Vice President of Operations for the National Black MBA Association, Detroit Chapter. He has served as the Director of Community Service and Development for the chapter and has launched initiatives aiming to bring awareness to blight and develop the community. He is active in Detroit’s revitalization effort, having participated in the Brightmoor Task force team mandated to restore Brightmoor to an African-Caribbean Marketplace. He is a Global Purchasing Buyer at Ford Motor Company where he managed an annual turnover of over 100 million USD. Niang has been recognized as the 2017 MBA of the year by the NBMBAA - Detroit and was selected by DBusiness Magazine for their “30 in Their Thirties” this year.
“We stand on the shoulders of those that have preceded us.” Niang said. “Muhammad Ali used to say, ‘Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.’ Civic engagement is indispensable to me. We should pave the ways for our children , our young brothers and sisters. It is our role to leave them with a great legacy, and healthy environment to live in. This is why civic engagement is a must to me.”
Moussa holds a Bachelors in Financial Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. He also have a Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership and a graduate certification in Conflict Management & Resolution. He is a Board Member of the Michigan Muslim Community Council and Treasurer of the Muslim Center for Detroit.
